Storage Scholars Internships are the Best–Here's Why

There are many reasons to love Storage Scholars internships. From the valuable real-world experience to the networking opportunities, there's much to love about these positions. But what sets them apart is the personal growth and development opportunities. Here are a few reasons Storage Scholars internships are the best around:

You get to work right on campus

Most of your work is done right on campus when you intern with us. You get to run your own branch of the company right at your university, and the best part–there's no need to ask permission from your university because we already have. Because of our campus partnerships, you're approved to market to parents and students, set up distribution days, and will have access to the dorms on moving days. We've done the hard part so you can get the practice of running a company your way.

You get to recruit your hardest-working friends

You'll need a team of student movers on moving days, and what better place to hire them than right on your campus? Whom do you know that's dependable, honest, friendly, and needs some extra cash? If that sounds like a few of your college friends, then great! It's a win-win.

Did someone say free lunch?

Hard work should be rewarded. You might not have time to stop for lunch on long days during the busy season, so we have you covered. It's common for our student workers and interns to be rewarded with a delicious lunch provided by Storage Scholars. We know that food is the way to some people's hearts, so it is our way of showing you how much we appreciate your hard work and effort.

You get to run the show

As Campus Co-Founder, Operations, or Marketing Manager, we value your talents and assets. We've selected you from a long list of other college students because we know you have the tenacity, persistence, and grit we look for in an intern. You've made it past the application process and several interview rounds, and now you get to shine as the expert on your campus. We're giving you everything you need to run the show. That means we will train and mentor you from start to finish and empower you to run your own branch of our business on your campus. But in doing so, you'll have much creative freedom to take it in any direction. You'll be able to test out new marketing ideas, lead your classmates in your style, make decisions based on real-life factors, and execute how you see fit. It's a perfect combination of our training and your knowledge and strengths. What better experience is there than that?

You will have a high level of connectedness within your college campus

When you accept a position as a Storage Scholars intern, you truly become the "boots on the ground," and your campus success relies primarily on you. You will be recruiting student movers, marketing to parents, coordinating with university administrators, and leading your student team. You will get to know everyone involved and establish yourself as a strong business leader. Your relationships will prove valuable as your business grows year after year if you choose to grow with it. Having great connections and networking that you will do will prove to be beneficial even after college as you enter a new level of the professional world. You'll have an edge that other graduates don't yet have.

You'll gain valuable skills and experience

Through 8 weeks of specialized training, you will gain the hard and soft skills necessary to work in an authentic setting. Depending on your specific internship role, you will learn about marketing and sales in the beginning. You will network with students and parents, engage in tabling efforts on campus, speak to organizations and social groups, and more. Through these activities, you will develop the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate the value proposition of our service while successfully closing sales. You will get to evaluate and reflect each week, track individual metrics with your executive team lead, and alter your course the following week if needed.

Once you reach the operations portion of your internship, you'll be able to learn and practice an entirely new set of skills. You will get an in-depth look at the storage and moving industry and how it works. Aside from managing high-level operations, you'll also recruit a team to make it happen. Essentially, you'll be learning the skills and then implementing those skills from start to finish with mentors by your side every step of the way.

You'll have fun!

We want you to love your work–because we sure do! In case you haven't heard, there's a famous saying that goes something like this: "If you love the work you do, you'll never work a day in your life (-Confucius)—working with friends, networking with like-minded people, learning a new industry, marketing creatively, and executing a high-level operation. Not only will you be incredibly proud of your work, we think you'll enjoy it too.

Storage Scholars interns are paid, so you can earn money while you learn

Storage Scholars internships are an excellent opportunity to gain fundamental business skills while getting paid! There's no better way to help pay down your student debt than earning money while expanding your knowledge about the business world. In fact, the company was founded with the goal of reducing student debt. CEO Sam Chason and COO Matt Gronberg are perfect examples of this. They both started as freshmen at Wake Forest University with enormous student loans and graduated debt-free thanks to Storage Scholars. Their dedication to providing college students with the same outcome is at the forefront of their mission, vision, passion, and values.

You'll gain hands-on experience that will be invaluable on your resume

Working with us is a great way to gain hands-on experience in the logistics and marketing industry. Learning the ins and outs of student storage and moving can teach you skills such as long-range planning and careful coordination of resources. Moreover, you'll be able to apply your marketing knowledge in a real-world setting, allowing you to hone your skills in areas from customer service to advertising. Plus, student storage is becoming increasingly popular amongst college students, so you can make a real impact on the services offered by having creative ideas for how the company can grow its market share. This work is an exciting way to dip your toe into a competitive field while learning valuable skills. Your experience will add to your professional toolkit, and don't be surprised if, after graduation, employers take notice and seek you out! We've had several interns share with us great success stories because of the internship they had at Storage Scholars.

You'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of people

An internship with Storage Scholars will allow you to work with a variety of people and build up new skills necessary for almost every job you may take on in the future. You can meet like-minded students on your campus who share the same goals that you do. From student movers to other Campus Co-Founders, to business professionals and even entrepreneur CEO Sam Chason himself, you will get a chance to work directly with various people working towards the same goal as you. Students will also practice collaboration and communication – each skill preparing them to replicate the model independently when they graduate! With Storage Scholars, you'll become an expert in an essential field that can help take your career to the next level.

You'll have the opportunity to work your way up the ladder

Our company was founded on opportunity. So, if you want it, it will be there for you to take. Our goal is to develop the next generation of business leaders. Everything we prepare you for will guide you to become a leader in whatever business you choose, including within Storage Scholars! One of our very own HQ leaders, Clare Mulholland, has demonstrated the tenacity, persistence, and grit that embodies Storage Scholars. She started as a campus intern at Georgetown University after responding to a recruitment email and has worked her way up within the company. She is now the Head of Recruitment for the entire company while working on her undergraduate degree. Clare is a perfect example of how to seize the opportunity by working her way up the ladder.

The type of experience you'll get with Storage Scholars will be invaluable, so take advantage of the opportunity to join a dynamic internship and team of people who are passionate about what we do. While we may specialize in student storage, our mission clearly goes beyond that.
