Summer Storage for Provo Students

BYU's academic calendar doesn't follow the standard playbook. Winter semester ends in late April. Spring and summer terms run through August. Missionary departures and returns happen year-round. The result is that Provo's student storage demand isn't a single May wave -- it's a rolling cycle of students coming and going throughout the year. Add the roughly 34,000 BYU students to the 40,000+ at Utah Valley University in neighboring Orem, and the Provo-Orem corridor has one of the highest student-to-resident ratios of any metro in America.
Storage Scholars handles the complexity that BYU's unique calendar creates. We come to your apartment or dorm, pick up your belongings with packing supplies included, store everything in a climate-controlled facility, and deliver it all back when you're ready -- whether that's for spring term, fall semester, or whenever you return from wherever life takes you. No scrambling for a storage unit during "Homeless Week" (BYU students know exactly what this means). No renting a truck when every U-Haul in Utah County is booked. No leaving your stuff in a friend's apartment hoping they don't move out before you get back.
Provo's high-desert climate means dry heat in summer and genuine cold in winter. Summer temperatures regularly hit the low-to-mid 90s, and winter drops below freezing with snow that persists from November through March. The dryness protects against moisture-related damage, but the UV exposure and temperature swings between seasons are their own problem. Electronics, vinyl, and certain fabrics degrade in sustained heat. Wooden furniture dries out and cracks in Provo's arid conditions. And the freeze-thaw cycle from fall through spring can damage anything with moisture content.
Storage Scholars provides climate-controlled storage designed for Utah's conditions. Our team coordinates with BYU's housing calendar, picks up from your apartment or dorm, and stores everything in a temperature-regulated facility. Whether you're gone for a spring term, the full summer, or a two-year mission, your belongings stay protected.
BYU draws students from every U.S. state and dozens of countries. Many students are returning from missions and need to re-establish in Provo with belongings that have been in storage or at a family home far away. Others are transferring from community colleges or starting as freshmen from out of state. Our ship-to-school service lets you box up your belongings at home and ship them ahead. We receive your packages at our Provo facility and deliver them directly to your housing on move-in day. You arrive in Provo ready to focus on school, not logistics.
Whether you're moving from Heritage Halls to an off-campus apartment on North 900 East, switching from Helaman Halls to a house near BYU campus, or relocating between Provo and Orem, our team handles the physical work. Provo's student housing market is dense -- blocks of BYU-approved housing line the streets surrounding campus, and parking is competitive. The streets around campus during turnover periods are packed with families, moving trucks, and students. We know the area, the building access points, and the fastest routes to get your move done efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Storage Scholars provides full-service student storage for BYU and UVU students -- pickup from your housing, climate-controlled storage, and delivery back when you're ready. Student Storage Solutions (5-star rating, locally owned) and Storage for Students (serving BYU for 45+ years, flat-rate pricing at $120 for up to 200 lbs) are popular local options. Collegeboxes (U-Haul) offers a drop-off model. Cougar Den Storage and Provo Storage provide traditional self-storage with student pricing. Storage Scholars is the only full-service national provider offering bundled door-to-door service with climate control included.

SpaceShip (Dorm Room Movers) charges $14.99/month per box with a $10 handling fee. Traditional self-storage units range from $40 to $150+ depending on size. Storage Scholars' all-inclusive pricing covers pickup, packing materials, climate-controlled storage, and delivery.
BYU's Fall-Winter housing contract runs from late August through late April (approximately August 27 to April 25). Students must submit a termination notice at least 30 days before vacating. Spring and summer terms have separate contract periods. Storage Scholars works around BYU's unique calendar -- not just a standard May move-out.
"Homeless Week" is what BYU students call the gap between housing contracts -- typically the period between winter semester ending (late April) and spring term housing beginning. During this gap, students who aren't continuing to the next term have nowhere to live or store their belongings. Storage Scholars picks up before your contract ends and stores your items until your next housing period begins, eliminating the Homeless Week scramble entirely.
Yes. We offer extended storage options for BYU students serving 18 to 24-month missions. Your belongings stay in our climate-controlled facility for the entire duration. When you return to Provo, we deliver to your new housing. This is one of our most requested services in the Provo market.
Absolutely. Utah Valley University in Orem is within our service area. We pick up from UVU campus housing and off-campus apartments throughout Orem and deliver back when you need your items. The Provo-Orem corridor is one continuous service zone.
Our service is fully compatible with BYU-approved housing requirements. We pick up from and deliver to any BYU-approved housing, whether it's on-campus residence halls or the extensive network of approved off-campus apartments. Our team respects the standards and access protocols of BYU-approved properties.
