The 6 Best Ways to Use Storage Scholars

Since 2017, Storage Scholars has been an incredible asset to the college community! We have been coming up with innovative ways to make every step of the process easier. Our extraordinary team has reshaped the industry entirely with fresh ideas and unique partnerships to make your experience seamless from start to finish. If you dig deeper into our company, you will see many more ways to use Storage Scholars than you might have imagined. Here are 6 of the best:

1. Summer Storage

Summer break is a well-deserved time off for college students everywhere. But the stress of moving out of your on or off-campus residence for the summer can be a headache for students and their parents. There is so much to think about: where to store all the belongings for the summer, how to transport it, and who will move it–twice! It can be stressful, especially for international students and anyone who doesn't live close. At Storage Scholars, we take all the stress away and let you focus on your finals. We will move it out, store it for four months, and then move it back to your new residence before school starts. All you have to do is pick up your boxes and packing supplies right on campus and pack up. That's it!

2. Ship to School

Over the summer of 2022, Storage Scholars rolled out its brand new "Ship to School" Program, and six of our campuses were able to test it out. Students received shipping boxes and supplies at their homes, filled them with their belongings, and shipped them to the Storage Scholars warehouse (located near campus), where they stayed until a week before college move-in. At that time, the Campus Co-Founders and their team used their key access to drop off those boxes before students arrived. 

In addition to shipping boxes from their home, Students could order items from online retailers and have those dropped off. Students and parents raved about the convenience of the program and the efficiency with which it was executed. Kudos to all the co-founders and student movers for launching a successful Ship To School program. 

For 2023 we will be expanding Ship to School to even more campuses. Be sure to check back often on our campus pages to see if we will offer it at your school.

3. Studying Abroad

Are you planning to study a semester of environmental studies in Barcelona? Perhaps art history in Italy or business in Athens? Whatever your course of study and destination of choice, studying abroad is an exciting time for college students! There are so many reasons to study overseas, but it's easy to forget that you've got a room full of your belongings that will need to be stored away while you're gone. Whether your studies will take you away from your university for a semester or an entire year, we've got you covered! Just pack up your boxes as you would for summer storage and leave them for us. We'll send our team of movers to pick up and store your belongings in a safe location for as long as you need us to. When you are ready to move back to campus, let us know, and we will redeliver your items wherever you tell us to. It is such a great piece of mind knowing that your possessions are safe when you are halfway across the world!

4. Taking a Semester Off

Plans can change. A medical leave, family emergency, or life change are reasons students might need to take a semester off college. If your plans change and you don't return to campus as originally planned, you can rest easy knowing you don't have to scramble to move your belongings out for a semester. We can pick your items up, store them for the entire semester, and then return them when you decide to move back. Or, if your items are already in storage with us, call us, and we can extend your storage for as long as you need it. It's a straightforward solution to a problem that shouldn't cause you stress. 5. University Services

Our strong partnerships with universities continue beyond helping students. We also provide services for the universities when needed. Thanks to our recent collaboration with SIRVA, we can help universities with larger-scale moves like replacing all beds on campus or smaller moves like when a staff member transfers offices. Often a university is tasked with packing, storing, and even shipping student belongings for various reasons. That's when we jump in to help. Renovating is another common task for universities. Storage Scholars can help by storing thousands of desks at a time or whatever else might be needed. We have access to over two million square feet of storage space across the country. You name it, and we can store it! Have a sports team coach transferring schools? We can provide the boxes, packing supplies, and an estimate of how much it will cost to get their game-worn jersey and their king-sized mattress to their new home. If it has to do with moving, storage, or shipping–we can do it.
